Welcome to the the Chicago Bears, Chicago Popular News community. The subject of this news is ‘Yoda’ at home: Rod Marinelli welcomed guest at the Bears minicamp

here are the details.

Matt Eberflus he avoided being heavy on the defense which he will rebuild as manager of the Bears. He will have his mark on it, but he has nearly handed over the daily reins to the defensive coordinator Alan Williams.

Eberflus turned to another former manager this week to help steer that defense in the right direction, and he couldn’t have picked a better one – the Bears’ former defensive coordinator. Rod Marinelliwho was a guest at the veterans’ minicamp on Tuesday and will speak with the team on Wednesday.

Marinelli’s credentials as one of the NFL’s top defensive line managers over the past two decades are well established: with the Buccaneers (1996-2005), the Bears (2010-12) and the Cowboys (2013-19).

He and Eberflus overlapped as Cowboys position coaches from 2013 to 2017.

As was evident with the Bears, there may not be an NFL position manager whose players swear by him more than Marinelli’s players, who had a Yoda-like reverence for him.

“I spent five years with him in Dallas and I can’t say enough good things about Rod Marinelli,” said Eberflus. “What he taught me about the player-manager relationship: being able to show the player that you care through action. And to prepare the player to play at his best on Sunday.

“And then you can challenge them and push them past the point where they can’t get over themselves, and that’s what I’ve learned from Rod. Everyone who talks about him loves him to death. I know when he was [with the Bears] he pushed the guys past the point that they couldn’t stand alone and that’s what I learned from him. He is a diamond in the rough, Rod Marinelli.

Hold that line

Left tackle as a rookie Braxton Jones remained in the first team in training, next to the left guard Cody White Haircenter Luca Patrizioright guard Sam Mustifero and the right tackle Larry Borom.

Teven Jenkins, the choice of the second round of 2021 which should start in both contrasting positions, remained with the second team. But Eberflus said the offensive line remains a fluid situation.

“We will finish the field with this alignment,” said Eberflus, “and then we will decide: ‘We like this alignment, that alignment or [we] I don’t like either one, let’s go with a new one. ‘ “

Asked if Jenkins or Borom could switch to the right guard, Eberflus said: “All combinations are open. We’re just trying to find the best five. ”

Dozier wounded

Guard Dakota Dozier left the field on a cart after suffering an injury late in training. According to his off-season policy, Eberflus did not comment on the extent of the injury.

Machine to scream

The large receiver room is statistically the least experienced group in the NFL. But the leader of that group, third year out of everything Darnell Mooneygave a rookie sound approval Velus Jonesthe Tennessee speedster who was drafted in the third round (71st overall).

“I love the room,” Mooney said. “There are many guys who will bring good things to the table. Velus, man, when he catches the ball, you’ll all see him. He can fly. He can certainly be a director for us ”.

Gordon out

Corner defender Kyler Gordon, the Bears’ first draft pick, did not participate, even though he was present and was working on a stationary bike. Eberflus didn’t seem worried about the undisclosed injury.

“It’s doing great,” Eberflus said. “It’s doing great.”
