Woman killed in northwest Indiana house explosion identified

A woman who was killed a house explosion in northwest Indiana last month it was identified.

At approximately 12:15 pm on November 23, police and firefighters responded to a house at 601 E. 29th Avenue in Hobart to a house blast call.

Upon arrival, a woman was found dead in her home.

She was identified as 70-year-old Geraldine Hook.

According to the Lake County Medical Examiner’s Office, the death was ruled an accident.

Authorities said there was a buildup of gas in the home, but it’s unclear what triggered it.
