Officials from the National Weather Service have announced that a winter weather advisory is in effect through 9 p.m. for parts of north central and northeastern Illinois.
Officials warned of slippery road conditions for night commuters and warned that visibility could be less than a mile during the evening hours.
Snow cover was expected to be 3 to 5 inches Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
