Whole Yeh: Chicago-Area Donuts Top Top in New Ranking of America’s Best

Just in time for National Donut Day, some donuts in the Chicago area have earned high marks in the new ranking of America’s Best.

of The Underground Donut Tour has released a list of “America’s Greatest Donuts”. It’s powered by the results of a contest that garnered over 22,000 votes and invited nearly 500 stores to participate. According to the ranking, the Chicago area is well represented.

D&D’s Place, The store on the South Kedzie 8300 block in Chicago took top spot in the chocolate glaze, fritters, and fruit flavored donut categories.

With locations throughout the city and suburbs, Stans Donuts also won an award for their blueberry cream cheese pocket and was voted America’s Best Fruit Filled Donut.

But overall fan favorites are also in the Midwest.

Rise’n Roll Bakery in Indiana took the top spot on the list and also earned the title of Cinnamon Caramel Donut. The donut was the most popular in the country and was one of his seven top awards for the company’s products.

The chain, which is also near Syrahville, Cedar Lake and Valparaiso, has also won awards in categories such as “Best Cake Donut” and “Best Cream Donut”.
