Someone in Washington beat steep odds to win the estimated $747 million Powerball jackpot on Monday night.

The winning numbers were 05, 11, 22, 23, 69 and Powerball 07.

Lottery officials didn’t immediately announce the winner, but the Powerball website said there was a jackpot winner in Washington state. The site also says the jackpot for Thursday’s upcoming draw has dropped to his $20 million.

This was the first Powerball jackpot win since November 19, 2022. Without that streak of wins, the prize money was allowed to get bigger and bigger until it became the 9th largest in US history.

Monday’s $747 million jackpot is for winners who choose an annuity paid out over 29 years. Higher interest rates increased the annuity payout compared to previous jackpots with lower interest rates.

Most winners prefer cash, with $403.1 million in the Monday night draw.

The game’s incredible odds of 1 in 292.2 million are designed to create big prizes that attract more players. Someone in Maine won his $1.35 billion mega his Millions prize in January and last November a California player won his $2.04 billion Powerball his jack achieved the pot. No one has claimed either of these awards.

Powerball is played in 45 states, plus Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Think you have a chance of winning the lottery? But it’s a very small chance. There are a few things that are likely to happen to you.
