UPDATE: East Peoria man dead after being hit by pickup truck late Friday night

UPDATE 5:30 P.M. – East Peoria Police Chief David Catton tells 25News that Anthony Whaley, 57, died after he was struck by a pickup truck late Friday night in the 1700 block of East Washington Street.

Catton said the pickup driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

An Illinois State Police accident reconstructionist was called to help with the investigation, said Catton.

The chief said no citations have been issued so far, though police are still investigating.

Catton said anyone who may have seen the crash is urged to call East Peoria Police at 309-698-4700.

EAST PEORIA (25News Now) – An East Peoria man is dead after being hit by a vehicle late Friday night.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Anthony S. Whaley, 57, was pronounced dead at 11:49 p.m.

He was transported in grave condition to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

He suffered multiple blunt-force trauma injuries.

Toxicology is pending, per state statute.

The crash happened at around 11:32 p.m. in the 1700 block of East Washington Street in East Peoria.

The crash is under investigation by the police department.
