Three dead and two seriously injured in IC2 accident in Rio Maior
A collision between two light vehicles today left three dead and two seriously injured on the Complementary Itinerary (IC) 2, in Rio Maior, which is closed to traffic, said a source from the District Center for Relief Operations (CDOS).
The collision resulted in three deaths, who were occupants of one of the vehicles that, after the collision, ended up overturning into a ravine between three and four meters high, said the same CDOS source.
In the other vehicle, the two occupants were seriously injured, being assisted at the scene at 12:20, it is not yet known to which hospital they will be forwarded.
The five victims were trapped in the vehicles, forcing firefighters to extricate them.
The alert for the accident was given at 11:30 a.m., and 31 operatives and 13 vehicles were called to the scene, including emergency and resuscitation medical vehicles from Santarém and Vila Franca de Xira and rescue means from the firefighters of Rio de Janeiro. Maior, Alcoentre, Alcanede and Benedita.
The accident happened near the Asseiceira junction, at kilometer 67 of the IC2, in the municipality of Rio Maior and in the district of Santarém.
