San Diego (CP) — An SDPD officer responded to a call of a male threatening another person with a hammer. The officer arrived and the suspect attempted to flee eastbound on Camino del Rio South.

San Diego (CP) — An SDPD officer responded to a call of a male threatening another person with a hammer. The officer arrived and the suspect attempted to flee eastbound on Camino del Rio South.

The officer tackled the suspect who still had the hammer in his hand and in the fight with the suspect, the officer called for a “Cover Now”, bringing in more officers running with lights & sirens.

The responding officers found the two men fighting each other on the ground. The suspect was subdued and taken into custody. The original officer ended up with an injury to an arm and he was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect is a transient and was taken to the Central Jail and is facing various charges including assaulting a Police officer.
