San Diego, California (CP) The male driver of a 2020 Nissan Altima could not tell the firefighters or officers how he drove over 100 yards from the parking lot, through the grass, and ended up 50-60 feet into Mission Bay.

San Diego, California (CP) The male driver of a 2020 Nissan Altima could not tell the firefighters or officers how he drove over 100 yards from the parking lot, through the grass, and ended up 50-60 feet into Mission Bay. City Workers saw the incident take place, and saw the male come up to the surface and swim to shore from his completely submerged vehicle. The City employees helped the male from the water.

The driver missed 2 adults and 2 small children in their transient encampment by just a few feet before entering the water. The man’s story kept changing and then he would add more information to the story. He did tell the officers he had been drinking vodka all night after fighting with his wife all day and was taking another female home from the bar he had been at.

Lifeguards then had to search the car and the surrounding area to make sure there was no one else in the car. The driver was tested & arrested for DUI. The broken back windows were done when the diver for looking for anyone else who may have been in the car.
