Possible snow this week

Snowfall is expected in the Chicago area, but how much snow you get depends a lot on where you live.

According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, there is some potential for snow this week, but the biggest event is expected to arrive on Tuesday night and continue through Wednesday.

Snow will start falling late Tuesday and spread over much of the area by Wednesday morning.

Snow cover is likely to cover the entire region in upcoming snowfall events, but the highest amounts are likely to occur in areas south and east of Chicago.

Early forecasts suggest that the northern suburbs of Chicago may see 1 to 3 inches of snow, while the southern suburbs and northwestern Indiana may see 2 to 4 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service advised drivers on Wednesday as slippery traffic is expected, especially during the morning commute.

Snow showers are likely again on both Thursday and Friday, but these systems are not expected to bring much in terms of additional accumulation.

Check back with the NBC 5 Storm team as this prediction develops.
