Police looking for South Side driver who seriously injured woman in hit-and-run

Police are seeking help from the public to identify a woman whose 2016 Malibu driver struck and seriously injured a female pedestrian crossing the street.

Around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, the pedestrian was struck by a Malibu moving west on 79th Street while crossing 79th Street and East End Avenue. Police said the vehicle continued to run after it hit the victim.

The vehicle was described as a brightly colored 2013-2016 Chevrolet Malibu with Illinois plates. Police said the vehicle had damage to the right front end, hood and windshield. Malibu also has a long black mark on the driver’s side door.

Malibu was last sighted as it traveled west on the 79th towards Stony Island Avenue.

Anyone with information about the accident should contact the police.
