Pastor Appreciation Month is celebrated each October. In keeping with that theme, members of the Disciples of Christ at the Weirton First Christian Church, honored their pastor, the Rev. Mark Mayer. Members recognized Mayer’s wife, Brenda, as well. The church congregation held a Pie Sunday event, at which various types of pies were baked and eaten following Sunday service. Congregation members expressed their appreciation to the Mayers, as they are Wheeling residents who travel to Weirton each Sunday. Officials noted the couple answered the call of the congregation in 2020.
Church officials stated everyone is welcome to attend a service at the church. Worship services begin at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. The church is located at 3252 Main St. in Weirton.
