One person has been killed and at least 14 injured in shootings in Chicago this weekend so far, police said.
A fatal shooting was reported in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood early Saturday morning, police said.
A 41-year-old man was shot multiple times around 1:23 a.m. while sitting in a car in the 4800 block of West Lexington by a passing silver sedan, officials said.
The car then fled the scene and headed east through Lexington.
Police said the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but later died from his injuries.
The suspect has not been detained and an investigation is ongoing.
Here are the rest of the weekend’s reported shootings so far:
Sunday –
- A 23-year-old man was shot in the hand just after midnight in the 5900 block of South Cottage Grove, police said. He was taken to a local hospital in good condition.
- A 21-year-old man was shot during an altercation at 3300 Block in South Halstead at around 2:50 am.
- Within 300 blocks of East 75th At around 2:58 a.m., a 45-year-old man was shot in the chest while walking down the street. Police said he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
- A 29-year-old man was shot in his right knee while standing outside the 1600 block in South Christiana around 6:16 a.m., police said. He was taken to an area hospital and was listed as in good condition.
Saturday –
- A 34-year-old woman got out of her car on East 79th 3000th Street.th A gunshot grazed her head around 1:50 a.m. when she heard a loud bang. Police said she was treated at the scene but she refused to be hospitalized.
- At approximately 4:38 pm, at Block 7600 in South Winchester, a 17-year-old boy was walking down an alleyway when someone in an Infiniti SUV opened fire and grazed his leg. There was no immediate word on his condition.
- A 21-year-old man was shot in the groin by a dark-colored vehicle driver in Block 8400, South Vincennes, around 6:45 p.m., police said. The patient is in good condition.
- At least three wounded in shooting at 3400 block of West 79th Around 10:10 p.m., a man in a dark Dodge Charger opened fire and struck the victim, police said. A 23-year-old man was hit multiple times in his torso and an 18-year-old man was hit in his head, both of whom were hospitalized in serious condition. The third victim, an 18-year-old woman, suffered abrasions on her shoulder and was in good condition at a local hospital.
Friday –
- A 19-year-old man was shot in the back around 9:10 p.m. while walking along Block 12400 in South Wallace, police said. The teen was taken to a local hospital and listed in good condition.
- At around 9:20 p.m., an altercation in Block 1300 in North Central ended in a shootout, police said. A 33-year-old man was shot in the leg by his 50-year-old man, who fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in good condition.
- At approximately 10:40 p.m., on the 1300 block of South Morgan, a 32-year-old man was sitting in his car when a bullet grazed his head. Police said the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
- At about 11:37 pm in Block 7900 in southern May, a 39-year-old man was sitting inside a residence when a bullet shattered a window and hit him in the neck. Police said he was taken to a local hospital in good condition.
