A 21-year-old woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl in South Holland.

Olympia Field’s 21-year-old Kenisha Lane was arrested at the scene Monday after what Staples called a “very unfortunate” result of a domestic dispute.

Daisha Cousley of Whiting, Indiana, was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m. from a gunshot wound to the chest at the Holland Inn and Suites, 1122 East 162nd Street, according to the Cook County coroner’s office.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting, Staples said, but police are still investigating.

“We pray for the girl’s family,” Staples said. “Our hearts are with them.”

In another shooting, a 28-year-old Hazel Crest man was shot at 11:30 am on Thursday in what police called a targeted attack, Staples said.

He was shot after leaving the company near State Street and 162nd Street and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Oak Lawn’s Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to the release. Staples said the man’s condition had not changed on Friday.
