My Block, My Hood, My City Needs Volunteers To Decorate King Drive For Holidays


BRONZEVILLE — My neighborhood, my neighborhood, my city is spreading the holiday spirit by launching its annual effort to light up King Drive next month.

The nonprofit is inviting volunteers to decorate homes, buildings and light poles on King Drive. Volunteers can Sign up to help 1pm-5pm December 3rd and 1pm-3.30pm December 10th.

The initiative will kick off December 3 at 3500 S. King Drive with a tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment, holiday music, hot cocoa and treats.

The organization wants to decorate 500 homes along King Drive and the surrounding community, according to its website.

The effort is part of the group’s Be A Part Of The Light initiative, now in its fifth year. It is meant to inspire hope for young people and bring communities together. Landlords of the area they can sign up to have their homes decorated here.

To protect participants, the organizers recommend people experiencing flu-like symptoms to stay at home, according to the event website.

People can also donate lights and other materials to decorate homes via this Amazon wish list. Supplies will be delivered to My Block, My Hood, My City.
