PEORIA (25News Now) – A man charged with attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of another man in Galesburg last year now knows how long he will spend behind bars.
The Knox County state attorney says Brandon Wilson was sentenced to 48 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the March 2022 shooting of Walter Brown III at the Belle Isle Apartments in Galesburg.
During a three-day trial in January of this year, testimony was presented by the victim, other residents of the apartment, multiple detectives and a forensic scientist.
The jury returned a guilty verdict on all charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and felon possession of a firearm.
The judge sentenced Wilson to 28 years for attempted murder, as well as 20 years of firearms enhancement.
Wilson will serve 85% of his sentence with credit for 504 days already served
