San Diego (CP) — Major Injury Accident, A witness was driving southbound on the I-5 and saw the victim’s BMW flying off the cliff above the I-5 on La Jolla Parkway. that person called 911. 1st Responders could not find the accident scene until the BMW emergency responder started to ping the location.
Firefighters found the crash which was down in a canyon below the roadway. The driver was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control. The car left the roadway and through the ice plant on the right shoulder. The car then launched off of the cliff side, hitting the embankment approx 50-60 feet away, and then rolled down to a shelf and landed on its roof.
Major Injury Accident
Firefighters were to extricate the unresponsive male from the wreckage. The victim came too for a very short time and then went unconscious. Due to the male injuries (considered to be life-threatening), he was medivaced by Copter 2 to Scripps La Jolla instead of using the ambulance. Westbound La Jolla Parkway is backed up to the east on both the westbound Hwy 52 and the northbound I-5
