CHICAGO (WLS) — At least 15 people were shot at a Halloween party on the city’s West Side early Sunday, Chicago police said.
The mass shooting happened just after 1 a.m. in the North Lawndale neighborhood’s 1200 block of South Pulaski Road, police said.
There was a large gathering there to celebrate Halloween, party attendees told ABC7. CPD said about 100 people were there.
Party-goers said the suspected shooter had been kicked out of the gathering, and he later returned with a gun before opening fire.
Party attendees described the gunman, who had fled the scene on foot, to officers. Police later arrested him and recovered a gun.
Six women and nine men were shot, police said. The victims’ ages range from 26 to 53 years old.
Police said 26-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were take to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. The other victims were initially listed in good condition.
Area Four detectives are investigating. Police did not immediately provide further information.
