Lake County residents can now breathe a sigh of relief as the order to boil water has officially been lifted.

Aqua Illinois, the water company that serves the area, received test results from a lab confirming that the water samples were free of bacteria.

The boiling order impacted about 1,200 homes. It was put in place after a heavy rainstorm caused water mains outages.

Residents can now resume normal water use without the need for boiling or further precautions.
