It’s no news that the Chicago area has some great places to buy donuts, but according to new rankings, some of the nation’s best eateries are right here in the Midwest.
according to “America’s Greatest Donuts” from the Underground Donut Tour The contest garnered over 22,000 votes and invited nearly 500 stores to participate, but the Chicago area is well known for this special treat, and the top spot is close at hand.
The overall fan favorite award for the contest is Rise’n Roll Bakery in Indiana. In addition to earning that title, the Cinnamon Caramel Donut was voted the nation’s most popular donut, making him one of his seven top awards for the product.
The chain, which is also near Syrahville, Cedar Lake and Valparaiso, has also won awards in categories such as “Best Cake Donut” and “Best Cream Donut”.
D&D’s Place, The store on the South Kedzie 8300 block in Chicago was also a big winner with top spots in the chocolate glaze donut, fritter donut and fruit flavored donut categories.
With locations in the city and suburbs, Stans Donuts was honored with America’s Best Fruit Filled Donuts for its Blueberry Cream Cheese Pockets.
