White County, Illinois (WLS) — Illinois’ new assault weapons ban faces another lawsuit.
Leading this latest challenge is former Republican gubernatorial candidate and former state senator Darren Bailey.
Bailey is one of hundreds of plaintiffs who are part of this new lawsuit filed in White County. The Assault Weapons Act violates the Illinois Constitution, he argues.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday on requesting a temporary injunction over the ban. His attorney, Thomas DeVore, representing these plaintiffs, also filed a lawsuit against the ban in Effingham County.
Just last week, a judge issued an injunction in the case, temporarily blocking enforcement of the law against those involved in the case.
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raul has formally appealed the ruling. He is asking the court to cancel and empty his TRO.
