Greetings from “Can’t Wait For Saturday,” your morning college football morsel, courtesy of longtime Illini writer, AP Top 25 voter and Heisman state representative Bob Asmussen. Every day he will give you his point of view on the game he loves.

Congratulations to Washington, which moved into the College Football Playoff ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 at No. 4 this week thanks to a gutsy win Saturday at rainy Oregon State.
I fully expect Kalen DeBoer’s team to hit No. 4 in this week’s CFP rankings ahead of Florida State, which lost quarterback Jordan Travis to a leg injury.
It doesn’t really matter where Washington, or the state of Florida, is right now. If they finish the season undefeated, they will reach the semi-finals, period.
It helps that Ohio State and Michigan are ranked ahead of them and have to lose in Ann Arbor this week. As has often been pointed out, the rest of the college football world outside of Michigan is rooting for the Buckeyes. All cheaters never prosper.
Florida State has two tough games left (Florida and Louisville). The same goes for Washington (Washington State and Oregon). If they’re 13-0, they absolutely deserve the spot. Great work this season by Florida State’s DeBoer and Mike Norvell.
