HOOPESTON — What to get that hard-to-buy-for Cubs fan in your life this Christmas?

Jerome Walton

On one of the busiest shopping days of the season, Hoopeston’s Bricks and Ivy Sports may have just the gift: a signed something from one of the special guests booked for appearances from noon to 2 on Nov. 25 — 1989 National League Rookie of the Year Jerome Walton and eight-year Cubs catcher Jody Davis.

Tickets are $19 for Walton or Davis to autograph any item, $29 for an autograph and photo opp and $49 for an autograph and photo opp with both.

Jody Davis

The Vermilion County memorabilia shop has been a magnet for Cubs, Cardinals, White Sox, Bulls, Bears and Illini past and present in recent years, hosting autograph-signing and picture-taking events starring Ozzie Smith, Andre Dawson, Jim McMahon, Devin Hester, Mark Grace, Joe Maddon, Nico Hoerner, Ozzie Guillen, Tony La Russa, Dennis Rodman and Terrence Shannon Jr., plus many more.

Jose Canseco

That’s Jose Canseco with two of Hoopeston’s finest during a 2019 home run derby/autograph signing double feature starring Mark McGwire’s fellow former Bash Brother.

The Main Street business was co-founded by Hoopeston natives and diehard Cubs fans Bob and Emily Brown.

In 2020, Bricks & Ivy was named Small Business of the Year by the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Danville Area Community College.
