Butler County
Route Z will be closed as MoDOT crews replace a culvert under the road. This section of road is located between County Road 564 and County Road 580 near Fisk. Weather permitting, crews will be working Thursday, July 6 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Construction on the first phase of the U.S. Route 67/Future I-57 project continues will reconstruction of the existing ramp at the intersection of the Route 160/158 interchange south of Poplar Bluff. The interchange will be reconfigured with two roundabouts in place of the current loop ramps in the northwest and southeast quadrants. MoDOT says as work continues, northbound traffic exiting to Routes 160/158 will be rerouted to the East Outer Road. Traffic on the outer road will be two-way. This traffic change is expected to begin Monday, June 22. Completion of the overall project is anticipated on Wednesday, Nov. 1, weather permitting.
Route 142 will be closed between County Road 267 and County Road 261 near Neelyville starting Monday, May 22. Crews will be replacing a bridge over Crane Creek Ditch. Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The project is expected to be completed Thursday, Aug. 17. The work zone will be marked with signs.
Improvements to Route 53 will soon get underway in Dunklin and Butler Counties. The project includes bridge work and pavement improvements from Route 25 in Holcomb to Route 67 in Poplar Bluff. As construction is underway, Route 53 will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction in each work location. Work will begin with improvements to the bridge located between County Road 211 and County Road 215 near Qulin. Next, crews will make pavement repairs and replace guardrail in various locations along Route 53. Asphalt paving will then begin at Holcomb and move north until reaching Poplar Bluff. The project will begin Monday, March 27 with completion anticipated by Wednesday, Nov. 1, weather permitting.
Butler/Ripley Counties
MoDOT plans to replace two structures on Route 142. The Butler County bridge is located over Cane Creek Ditch near Neelyville. The Ripley County bridge is located over Mill Creek near Gatewood. The projects will be let in January 2023, with construction starting as early as spring 2023. As work is underway, the road will be closed in the vicinity of each structure for about 3 months. Signed detours will be in place. Completion is anticipated by fall 2023.
Cape Girardeau County
Route 72 will have a 12-foot width restriction as contractor crews work on the shoulder to install roadside lighting. This section of road is located between County Road 335 to Farmington Road near Jackson. Weather permitting, crews will be working at the following locations in Jackson: East Lane to Daisy Ave. Monday, June 26 to Monday, July 3; West Main to Missouri St. on Monday, July 3 to Tuesday, July 11 and Michael Anna Street to Daisy Ave. Monday, July 10 to Monday, July 17.
Route A between County Road 253 and Walnut St. in Whitewater will be closed 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily starting Monday, June 5 with completion anticipated Wednesday, Nov. 1. Crews will be replacing a bridge over Whitewater River.
Work will begin as early as August 15, 2022 on Siemers Drive. The city said the contractor will finish a list of repairs within a year. They include Siemers from 74 to Richmond and Siemers from Campster to Lambert.
Dunklin County

Mississippi County
Construction to replace the Route B bridge over I-57 is underway. The bridge is located near Bertrand. In addition to the bridge replacement, roundabouts will be built on either side of the bridge. Rte. B over I-57 is currently closed at the bridge location. It will remain closed throughout construction. MoDOT says northbound and southbound I-57 will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the project. The project is expected to be finished in summer 2023.
IDOT is alerting drivers traveling in the Cairo area that the U.S. 60/62 bridge over the Mississippi River will be closed to all traffic until further notice.
Pemiscot County
According to MoDOT, contractor crews will begin repaving Route C from Route 412 to 164 on Monday, June 19. Weather permitting, crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with an anticipated completion date of Monday, July 17. During work, Route C will be closed for up to two business days at each of the five bridge approaches. They’ll finish work at each bridge and then begin repaving the route.
Route 84 will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction from Route 412 to I-55 in Hayti starting Monday, June 19 through Monday, July 10 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Crews will be making pavement repairs. The work zone will be marked with signs.
Route C will be reduced from Route 412 to Route 164 from Route 412 to Route 164 starting Monday, June 19 to Monday, July 17 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crews will be repaving the roadway. During the work, Route C will be closed for up to two business days at each of the five bridge approaches. The contractors will complete work at each bridge first, then begin repaving the route. As construction is underway, flaggers will be present, and traffic will be guided through the work zone by a pilot car.
According to police, construction on a temporary floodwall will take place the week of May 15 at the riverfront in Caruthersville. While work is underway, the Ward Avenue riverfront entrance/exit will be closed for the next several months. The Carleton Avenue riverfront entrance/exit will be permanently closed. Police say all traffic going to and from the riverfront will need to use the Walker Avenue entrance/exit.
Perry County
Northbound Route 61 will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as contractor crews improve sidewalks in Perryville. This project is part of the MoDOT initiative to make roadway facilities ADA compliant. This section of road is located between Route E and Route 51. Weather permitting, crews will be working Wednesday, July 5 through Friday, July 14 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Scott County
Route N will be closed as railroad crews perform railroad maintenance. This section of road is located between Mississippi Street and Parkview Drive in Scott City. Weather permitting, crews will be working Tuesday, July 31 through Friday, Aug. 4.
North and southbound I-55 will be reduced to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform roadside work. This section of road is located from I-57 near Miner, Mo. to Route 77 near Benton, Mo. Weather permitting, crews will be working from 7 a.m. on Monday, May 8 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1.
Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, Dec. 12 for intersection improvements at U.S. 61 and Malone Avenue in Sikeston. During the first phase of intersection improvements, the right turn lanes will be closed to allow work on the light bases. The current traffic signals will remain in use as new concrete bases are poured and new signal equipment is installed. This project also includes upgrading the sidewalks at this intersection. Additional information detailing impacts to traffic will be released as work progresses. The work zone will be marked with signs. Work is expected to be complete by Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.
St. Francois County
Route 67 will be reduced to one lane as MoDOT crews perform bridge maintenance. This section of road is located between Parkway Drive and Old Orchard Road near Desloge. Weather permitting, crews will be working Monday, July 17 through Thursday, July 20 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Northbound Route 67 will be reduced as contractor crews perform bridge maintenance. This section of road is located between Route 32 and Rosener Road in Leadington. Weather permitting, crews will be working Monday, July 10 with completion anticipated Sunday, Oct. 1. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Illinois
Alexander County
IDOT is alerting drivers traveling in the Cairo area that the U.S. 60/62 bridge over the Mississippi River will be closed to all traffic until further notice.
Franklin County
Rte. 148 will be closed form just north of Yellowbanks Rd. to just south of Renfro Lake Rd. beginning Thursday, June 1 through July 28. The closure is for the reconstruction of Rt. 148. There will be a marked detour. Drivers will need to take Rte. 14 in Christopher, Route 184 and Rte. 149 in Zeigler.
Jackson County
The city of Carbondale is alerting the public to an upcoming culvert replacement on East College Street over Piles Fork Creek. The city estimates East College St. will be closed for about one month, with construction to begin late summer 2023.
Johnson County
IDOT is alerting motorists traveling on I-24 in Johnson County of the upcoming two-year construction project beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, March 14, weather permitting. Traffic will be reduced to one lane. The project includes bridge repairs on multiple structures in each direction on I-24 from the structures over US 45 (Mile Post 14) to the Massac County Line at (Mile Post 24) and hot mix asphalt resurfacing. All bridge work must be completed by November 22, 2022, and the entire project shall be completed by November 15, 2023. Motorists should be aware of the 14′-3″ width restriction, reduce speed, be alert for equipment and workers and use extreme caution while traveling through all work zones. To avoid any delays, motorists should seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
Kentucky
Ballard County
KYTC and the Ballard County Road Department closed a bridge on Fraser Road on Tuesday, Feb. 14 after an inspection found issues with the substructure. This is the Buckler Creek Branch Bridge at mile point 1.238 on CR 1116. The bridge had previously been posted with a 9-ton load limit. It will remain closed until further notice. KYTC engineers will help the county road department with an analysis of the bridge structure to determine if the bridge can be repaired or needs to be replaced.
Calloway County
According to Murray State University, renovations to the Chestnut Street pedestrian bridge on campus will begin on May 15. They say the bridge is expected to close May 15, while a portion of Chestnut Street between the Curris Center and the Collins Industry and Technology Center is expected to close starting May 29. Both vehicular and pedestrian traffic should follow detour signs. Eastbound traffic should use 16th St. with Waldrop Drive being the last turn off cross street, while westbound traffic should use 12th St. with Gilbert Graves Drive being the last turn off cross street. The bridge and street are expected to reopen by July 4.
Fulton/Graves/Hickman Counties
Construction activities to allow I-69 to be extended from Mayfield to Fulton will begin ramping up from the Kentucky-Tennessee state line at Fulton to the end of I-69 at the 21-mile marker near the U.S. 45/KY 80-Bypass at the southwest edge of Mayfield. KYTC says there will be intermittent work zone lane restrictions at various locations. There will be a 55 mph work zone speed limit with an enhanced police presence in areas where construction crews are present. The two-year project includes converting the KY 339 Wingo Exit 14 interchange from a cloverleaf designed to accommodate a toll booth to a modified-diamond interchange with extended ramps designed for high-speed interstate traffic. Crews will also be making improvements to Exits 1 and 2 at Fulton, bridge deck and barrier wall upgrades, as well as guardrail and drainage work all along the parkway from Fulton to Mayfield. The target completion date is December 15, 2024.
Graves County
KYTC, there will be lane restrictions along I-69 southbound near Mayfield starting Monday, June 19. Southbound drivers should prepare for work zone lane restrictions near the 28 mile marker and the 24 mile marker for base repairs along the driving lane. The 28 mile marker is immediately east of the KY 131 Mayfield-Symsonia Exit 28 interchange. The 24 mile marker is between the U.S. 45 Mayfield-Paducah Exit 25 Interchange and the KY 121 Mayfield-Wickliffe Exit 24 Interchange. A contractor will mill out damaged areas of pavement on Monday. The KYTC Graves County Highway Maintenance Crew will then rebuild the base over several days with paving to follow later in the week. This work is expected to take about a week to complete, weather permitting.
KYTC is adding an 8-foot load width restriction to the work zone along a section of KY 129, starting on May 1. The project runs along KY 129 from the KY 94 intersection at mile point 8.735 northward through the KY 2422 intersection to the KY 339 intersection at mile point 15.4, a distance of 6.67 miles. The target completion date is November 15.
KYTC closed a section of KY 534 on Monday, April 3 until further notice. It’s closed at the 2.7 mile marker due to a damaged cross drain. This is along KY 534 just over 2 miles south of the KY 348/Symsonia Highway intersection between the eastern and western sections of Dooms Chapel Road. Engineers believe the cross drain may have been damaged by recent flash flooding. There is no marked detour.
KYTC ordered the closure of a bridge on Poyners Chapel Road in southwestern Graves County due to the condition of the bridge support structure. Poyners Chapel Road (CR 1237) is closed at mile point 0.818 at the Little Cypress Branch Bridge southwest of Sedalia. This is along Poyners Chapel Road about 8/10ths of a mile west of KY 303/Cuba Road. They said an inspection of the bridge found issues with the bridge structure. The bridge will remain closed until further notice. The order was effective on Jan. 9.
KYTC and Graves Co. Road Dept. closed Martin Road at the Obion Creek Branch Bridge on Friday, April 3. It was closed after an inspection found additional deterioration of the bridge substructure. Martin Road (County Road 1214) runs between KY 303 and KY 83 just south of the Cuba community. The bridge is near the south end of Martin Road at mile point 0.5. The bridge is closed until further notice. This will likely be a long-term closure.
Hickman County
Drivers traveling U.S. 51 should be alert for intermittent work zone lane restrictions between mile point 6.7 just north of the Martin Road intersection and mile point 8.3 just north of the KY 703/Spring Street intersection starting Tuesday, June 20. Crews will initially be doing survey work to aid in planning and design of a future project along U..S. 51/Main Street in Clinton to correct geometric deficiencies, improve safety and enhance regional connectivity. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and survey personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
KYTC plans to close a section of KY 575 starting on Monday, October 3. The project will be from mile point 0.0 at the KY 58 intersection and extend northward to mile point 2.436 at the KY 123 intersection. There will be no marked detour. There will be no through-traffic on KY 575 at the paving site until the work is finished.

Livingston County
Construction on the new U.S. 60 Cumberland River Bridge at Smithland continues with traffic expected to move to the new bridge sometime in late April or early May. The updated work schedule for the project includes: U.S. 60 highway connections tie-in finished and final roadway surfacing and finish work in April; traffic moved to the new bridge in May; and demolition of the old bridge in June-August. The target completion date for all work on the new bridge is Dec. 1, 2023. According to KYTC, the new bridge will have a 40-foot-wide, two-lane deck with a 12-foot driving lanes and 8-foot shoulders that will provide enough clearance for most farm equipment to cross without stopping oncoming traffic. The new bridge will not have piers in the water during normal river conditions to help river navigation.
Marshall County
KY 962/Old Olive Road, between Henry Gordon Lane and Utley Cemetery Road, will be closed at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 through Friday, July 21. Crews will be replacing the Lovette Branch Culvert. There will be no marked detour. Drivers are urged to advanced alternate travel plans based on their destination. The new culvert is expected to allow KY 962/Old Olive Road to be restored to an 80,000 pound load rating which will allow school bus traffic to resume.
KYTC closed a section of KY 2603/Vanzora Road at the Soldier Creek Bridge on Monday, March 6 after inspectors found deterioration of the bridge structure. The bridge had previously been restricted to a 10-ton load limit. Damage to the multi-span timber pile structure indicated loads that exceeded that limit had been crossing the bridge. While inspectors were on site, several loaded semi trucks crossed the bridge. They said scour issues from recent heavy rainfall also contributed to the structural issue. The Soldier Creek Bridge is closed to all traffic and barricaded until further notice. A project to build a new bridge at this site is on the KYTC bid schedule for this spring. However, a successful bid would mean construction would not likely start until mid-summer.
McCracken County
The city of Paducah says Paducah Water will be closing the inbound lane of Jefferson Street between North 32nd Street and Labelle Ave. on Wednesday, July 5. This project is to tie in the new water main to newly installed sections under the railroad bridge.
KYTC plans to close KY 1286/North Friendship Road between U.S. 45 and U.S. 62 starting Tuesday, May 30. It will be closed to through traffic for the reconstruction of the road between U.S. 45 and U.S. 62. Business and property owners will have local access via each end of the project. Lakeview Drive will be closed at Magnolia Lane. Old Friendship Road and Seneca Lane will be closed at the KY 1286/Old Friendship Road construction corridor. It’s expected to remain in place until late fall. The target completion date for Phase I of the project is November 30, 2024. Drivers seeking to make a connection between U.S. 45 and U.S. 62 in the Lone Oak area should use the Connector Roads/Jack Paxton Boulevard at the I-24/U.S. 45/U.S. 62 Paducah exit 7 interchange.
KYTC plans to continue daytime closures of Old Friendship Road and Seneca Lane along the KY Hwy. 1286/North Friendship Road construction corridor the week of April 24. Old Friendship Rd. and Seneca Ln. will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. This is to allow industrial haul trucks to move dirt. There will be no marked detour. The target completion date for Phase I of the entire project is Nov. 30, 2024.
KY 994/Old Mayfield Road in Paducah will be closed between Division Street and U.S. 60/Irvin Cobb Drive/South 21st Street starting Monday, April 17. This closed section of KY 994/Old Mayfield Road includes intersections with Alabama Street, Quarles Avenue, South 25th Street, and Chester Hack Drive. Crews will be reconstructing the roadway, which includes new curb and gutter and new concrete pavement. There will be no marked detour. Passenger vehicles may self-detour via side streets. Trucks should detour via KY 1310/Berger Rd, U.S. 45 and U.S. 60. Local access will be maintained for businesses and residents. The rehab project will require the roadway to be closed for about 11 weeks.
Construction along KY 305/Cairo Road at I-24 Paducah Exit 3 interchange continues with plans to close the westbound entry and exit ramps starting Monday, July 10. The westbound exit and entry ramps will be closed while crews remove old pavement and pour new pavement. They will close at 6 a.m. Monday and work is expected to take about two weeks to finish, weather permitting. Drivers may self detour via I-24 Exit 4 to U.S. 60, then connect to KY 305/Cairo Road via KY 998/Olivet Church Road. Work on the eastbound ramps will be scheduled once the westbound work is finished. The target completion date for all the work is July 31.
Trigg County
KYTC ordered the closure of a bridge on Jones Creek Spur (FS Road 172-C) in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. They announced the closure on Thursday, Jan. 26. A routine inspection of the Jones Creek Bridge found issues with the substructure. The bridge will remain closed until further notice. The bridge is immediately north of the KY-TN state line in the southwestern corner of the county. Jones Creek Spur connects to Rushing Creek Road in Tennessee. The bridge was previously posted with an 11-ton load limit.
