Flossie the cat crowned the world’s oldest living cat at nearly 27 years old

Flossy was recognized as the world’s oldest living cat by Guinness World Records, at about 27 years old, the equivalent of 120 years in humans.

A British brown-and-black cat was officially recognized by Guinness World Records on Thursday at a record-breaking age of 26 years and 329 days, according to a news release. Although he has amblyopia and hearing loss, he is said to be in good health. CNN reported.

“I knew from the beginning that Flossie was a special cat, but I never thought she would share a home with a world record holder,” welfare charity Cats Protection in August.

“She is so loving, playful and especially sweet when you remember how old she is. I am very proud that Cats Protection matched me with such a wonderful cat,” she added. I got

Flossie has lived in several homes since 1995 when she was a feral cat for the first few months of her life near Merseyside Hospital in Liverpool, North West England.

She was adopted by a hospital employee who lived with her for 10 years until her owner died. Flossy was adopted by her late owner’s sister. Fourteen years later, her second owner died. She then lived with her second owner’s son for her three years before she was entrusted to volunteer for Cats Protection.

It was then that rumors of her incredible age began to circulate, and the journey to confirm her records began.

Naomi Rosling, the charity’s chapter coordinator, said, “We were surprised to see that Flossie’s veterinary records showed her to be 27.

According to the release, most cat owners prefer to adopt much younger cats, and older animals often spend their last days in shelters.

Green hopes Flossy’s story will inspire potential cat owners to provide shelter for their aging pets.

The oldest cat ever, Creme Puff, lived to be 38 years and 3 days old. They said he died on August 6, 2005.

Pebbles, the oldest dog ever to live, died on October 3, five months before Toy Fox Terrier’s 23rd birthday. Gino Wolf, who lives with his owner in Los Angeles, is the current record holder at the age of 22 years and 2 months.
