Five coaches of the 12506 Down North East Express derailed near Raghunathpur station in Buxar district of Bihar earlier today.
The mishap took place close to Raghunathpur station of Danapur division near Buxar around 9.35 pm and there were no reports of any casualty, PTI reported citing an official from Indian Railways.
The 12506 Down North East Express, which departed from Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi at 7:45 am, was on its way to Kamakhya Junction in Assam’s Guwahati.
The East Central Railway Zone has said an accident relief vehicle along with the medical team and officials has left for the incident site, reported ANI.
A scratch rake has been despatched from Patna to ferry passengers from the accident site, a railway official having direct knowledge of the matter informed PTI. A scratch rake is a temporary rake with similar configuration as the original train.
Meanwhile, Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav has spoke to district magistrate and SP of Buxar and Arrah and directed them to make proper arrangements for the injured and send the concerned officers to the incident site as soon as possible, the report added.
“Bihar government is actively engaged in rescue, relief and treatment of the victims and injured,” Tejashwi said.
“As soon as we got information about the train derailment in Raghunathpur, the district administration is on alert mode. We sent 15 ambulances, 4-5 buses. SDRF team has been sent. All necessary arrangements have been made to provide treatment to the injured. Doctors have been called. The blood bank has been opened…” ANI quoted Raj Kumar, DM Bhojpur.
