PEORIA COUNTY (25News Now) – The Peoria Fire Department said a fire on Thursday destroyed a dump truck parked in an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) maintenance facility west of the city.

The IDOT dump truck is a total loss and there was significant heat and smoke damage to the maintenance yard and warehouse at 6500 West Route 150, said Battalion Chief Scott Strum.

The call came in about 4:50 p.m., with Peoria and Dunlap firefighters called to the scene.

Crews had to force open a locked gate to get to the fire, said Strum. He said there were no injuries, and the cause is under investigation.

A dollar estimate of the damage was not available.
