WRIGLEYVILLE — Fall Out Boy are returning to Chicago to give thanks for the memories.

Tickets to see the global celebrity homegrown band sold out almost immediately.

The band was booked last minute for a show Wednesday, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic Metro venue, 3730 N. Clark St.

Known for smashing rock hits and keeping skinny jeans trendy, Fall Out Boy formed in suburban Chicago in 2001. Their first show was in the DePaul coffee shop. The band has already made the rounds of the city’s punk scene climbing to the top of the leaderboards in the mid-2000s.

Wednesday will be the first time Fall Out Boy plays the Metro in nearly a decade, according to WGN.

The tiny venue — long heralded as a rite of passage for Midwestern musicians — is no stranger to blockbuster shows. Metallica played a secret show based on the ‘need to know’ at the Metro in 2021.
