When I reached for my phone first thing one morning and found out that Danny Horst and Annabel Lilly were dating, I was furious.
Not that I was furious because I was in love with Danny Horst, or because I was in love with Annabelle Lilly. And I wasn’t angry that I didn’t hear the news directly from Danny, even though we shared an office. The reason is that Annabel Lilly was a gorgeous, talented, world-famous movie star and Danny was a shrub. But just in case, he was a TV writer, a comedy writer. myselfHe was greasy, sleep-deprived and sarcastic. And maybe because he was a man, or because he was 10 years younger than me, he was self-conscious, non-pleasing, and recklessly insouciant.
However, his snarky and annoying ways apparently didn’t deter Annabel Lily’s interest. night owl Three weeks ago, it coincided with the release of her latest film, the fourth in the action franchise in which she played a corrupt FBI agent. He conveyed the opening monologue while highlighting his slender yet curvaceous body. Her long red hair was styled for old Hollywood waves. Annabelle was beautiful, sweet and charming. If she didn’t have the best comical timing, she was totally game. It was just as important.
I could have forgiven both of them. TNO As anyone who’s spent the last few years writing jokes, listening to fairy tales, and reading articles in the style section of a newspaper knows, there are three rules. In this case, it’s a bona fide celebrity and TNO The staff I met on the program. But crucially, well-intentioned woman with celebrities Man staff. A year ago, at a wedding I attended, an Oscar-winning, icy-blonde British actress named Imogen Wagner, best known for his recurring character Buckne Guy. married a cast member named Josh Beekman.
The year before, lead writer Elliott Markowitz (5’8″, 40, my boss in Topsider) had written a multi-platinum album titled Nicola Dornan (5′). I was married to a sales pop singer. -10, 30, and UN Envoy). And, of course, this was the essence of my anger. That gender-swapped couples don’t exist, that a gorgeous male celebrity would never fall in love with an ordinary, stupid, unkempt woman. I never have. no matter how smart she was.
But as they lay in bed, glaring at their phone screens, Danny and Annabelle’s debut as a couple took the form of a makeover at the club where Annabelle’s 24th birthday party was held, the night before. I knew it was done. — I write about my anger. As usual, I turned my feelings into comedy and that was how I healed myself.
