Eight shots fired, one dead in Oakland, third California shooting in days

Eight people were shot dead in Auckland Monday night, one dead, police said. It’s his third mass shooting in California and his second mass shooting in the Bay Area alone on Monday.

Police said officers were dispatched to investigate the ShotSpotter activation, and that the shooting was detected by an automated system and that they “know there was shooting between several individuals.”

Officers arrived at the alleged shooting site – a gas station adjacent to the Mills College grounds. According to CBS Bay Area — Several gun casings were found, but no casualties, police report.

Police were then notified of “multiple” shooting victims who were taken to area hospitals.

Police said they were “aware” of eight victims, one dead and the rest in stable condition.

The identity of the person whose life was taken was pending pending next of kin notification.

Police are asking the public for help in identifying and locating the shooter.
