DANVILLE — A Danville man has been ordered held in jail until he is tried for murder in a fatal stabbing earlier this month.
Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy filed three counts of first-degree murder against Ipolito I. Rodriguez-Sanchez, 49, who listed an address in the 1500 block of East Fairchild Street, in connection with the Oct. 21 fatal stabbing of Norvin Zeledon, 22, of Danville.
Danville police arrested Rodriguez-Sanchez that same day. An earlier report said officers were called to the 1500 block of East Fairchild at 2:03 a.m. that Saturday for an unknown problem and learned that a man, who had already left the area, had been stabbed.
A few minutes later, police were notified that Mr. Zeledon arrived at the emergency room at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center with stab wounds to the chest and legs. He died later that day.
Lacy filed the murder charges Oct. 23 against Rodriguez-Sanchez and a judge ordered two days later that he should be detained. His next court date is Nov. 13.
When Danville police arrested Rodriguez-Sanchez, they reported that he was from Wyoming.
