DANVILLE — A Danville man has been taken into custody as a suspect in a Wednesday shooting that left an 18-year-old injured.

Kaydo T. Moreman, 27, was being held Thursday on preliminary charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a news release from the Danville Police Department.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police said they were called about 6 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Main and State streets for a report of shots fired. Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The release said the victim claimed he had been walking in the area when a Black man began verbally threatening him. He said he was trying to leave when he heard several shots fired and was struck.

Officers identified Moreman as a suspect and arrested him after locating him walking in the area of Cleveland and Delaware avenues around 10 a.m. Thursday, the release said.

Formal charges are pending a review by the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.
