CHAMPAIGN — Champaign County Crime Stoppers needs help finding the person who shot three people in downtown Champaign last week.

At 2:24 a.m. Sept. 24, Champaign police found two people injured by gunfire in the 200 block of North Neil Street, just south of the intersection with Main and Church streets.

An 18-year-old female from Fort Worth, Texas, had been shot in the foot, and a 25-year-old man from Donna, Texas, was shot in the leg.

Both were taken by ambulance to a local hospital, while a third victim, a 25-year-old man from Gary, Ind., who had been shot in the arm, arrived a little later in a personal vehicle.

All three continue to recover from their injuries.

Police said they were gathered on that block when a person fired into their group, then ran.

Police ask that any person or business with exterior surveillance cameras or cellphone video of the area share it with them by contacting Champaign County Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477, 373tips.com or via the free “P3 Tips” mobile app.

Tipsters are always 100 percent anonymous when contacting Crime Stoppers and receive a code number to check on rewards.

All tips submitted to Crime Stoppers are electronically stripped of any personally identifying information and processed by a third-party answering service.

Crime Stoppers will pay cash rewards of $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest in any Champaign County homicide, $2,500 for tips leading to an arrest in any felony involving a gun in Champaign County, and up to $1,000 for tips leading to arrests in other crimes.
