The singer, known for hits like “I Love This Bar” and “Red Solo Cup,” said he was diagnosed with the disease in late 2021 and underwent chemotherapy and surgery six months earlier.

“Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I have been undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and surgery for the past 6 months,” he said in a statement to fans. “So far so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”

According to his Instagram, Keith is set to release a new single titled “Oklahoma Breakdown” to national radio. However, he assured fans that he will see them “sooner or later”.

Country music star Toby Keith announced Sunday that he has been undergoing treatment for stomach cancer since last fall.

The multi-platinum singer tweeted that she had undergone surgery, chemotherapy and radiation in the past six months.

“So far so good,” said Keith of Oklahoma, who turns 61 on July 8. “I need time to breathe, heal and relax.

“I can’t wait to spend this time with my family. But sooner or later I’ll see the fans. I can’t wait.”

How well Keith will perform for the rest of the year is unclear. According to his website, his next show is scheduled for June 17 in Wheaton, Illinois. Following Keith’s announcement, the Ohio State Fair announced the cancellation of his July 28 concert in Columbus, Ohio.

Keith’s publisher, Elaine Schock, said in an email Sunday night that some tour dates will be canceled, “but I’m not sure how many at the moment.”
