Concealed carry-holders and robbers wounded in exchange for shootings in Calumet Heights

Early Wednesday morning, a woman was shot for concealing her cell phone license after being injured by a burglar who tried to break into her car in Calumet Heights.

Chicago police say the 23-year-old woman was sitting in a car parked on the 1300 block on East 89th Street when four men got out of a black sedan and approached her around 2:10 a.m. .

Police say one of the men, whose age is unknown, pointed a gun at the woman and tried to break into her car, whereupon she opened fire. He was shot in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was deemed critical, police said.

Police said another man, also of unknown age, fought back and punched the woman in the left arm.

Officials said the woman was taken to Trinity Hospital where she was said to be in good condition.

The three men fled the scene.
