Coast Guard rescues more than 180 people from overloaded yacht off Florida Keys


More than 180 people have been rescued from an overloaded and dangerous sailing vessel off the Florida Keys, according to the US Coast Guard.

At 5 a.m. Monday, the Good Samaritan reported an incident off Rodriguez Caye, Coast Guard District 7. murmuredThe Coast Guard and others responded, battling difficult weather and seas, initially saying 22 people were off the yacht.

More than 100 people were rescued from the yacht before it hit a sandbar south of Whale Harbor. At that point, the Coast Guard tweeted that there had been reports of people in the water.

Tuesday, Coast Guard clarified In total, more than 180 people were rescued from the yacht.
