City of Pekin will have new police chief next week

PEKIN (25News Now) – A described Pekinite will become the city’s next police chief.

Outgoing police chief and current city manager John Dossey says Seth Ranney brings a vast amount of experience that will continue to serve the Pekin community well.

Ranney was originally hired by the police department in 2000 where he worked two years in patrol and four years in investigations with the DEA task force until 2006/

He then moved to Nashville where he worked for the Nashville Metro Police Department before coming back to Pekin in 2010 and was promoted to sergeant in 2012, investigations sergeant in 2014 and lieutenant in 2017.

He was appointed deputy chief by Dossey in 2020.

Raney will begin serving as chief on November 5. Dossey will officially retire to take over the role of city manager.
