A California Highway Patrol officer was rushed to hospital Monday night after being shot at during a traffic stop in Studio City, according to authorities. The officer is believed to be in critical condition. The shooting took place in the Landale Street area just east of Laurel Canyon Boulevard on the Campbell Hall Episcopal School property shortly before 8pm, CHP said. Witnesses told ABC7 that the CHP officer attempted to stop a car but the driver initially refused. Eventually, the driver and officer pulled into the parking lot of Campbell Hall Episcopal, a private K-12 elementary school, and then gunshots were fired. A description of the suspect was not available.
A large crime scene was seen at an intersection in the Studio after a CHP officer was shot.
AIR7 HD video showed multiple law enforcement units gathered in the area looking for clues. AIR7 HD followed an ambulance, believed to be carrying the officer, from the scene to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The ambulance was escorted by several police units.
