National Weather Service officials warned that with temperatures hovering in the 50s, high waves and dangerous currents are expected on Lake Michigan beaches through noon Thursday, creating life-threatening conditions for swimmers.

Beach hazards continued until noon in Lake and northern Cook counties, Illinois, and Lake and Porter counties, Indiana.
