Chicago: Police say two men robbed eight North Side bars and restaurants in two days

Two men broke into eight bars and restaurants from Lincoln Park to Lincoln Square during a spate of crimes on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Chicago police. But so far the criminals are on the run.

CPD said the men used prying tools to break store locks and attack cash registers and filing cabinets. Police said the two men fled the scene on foot.

Area Three detectives have issued a community alert linking a man to a robbery at a bar or restaurant at:

  • 1000 blocks in West Wrightwood on Wednesday at 12:48 a.m.
  • Block 2400 in North Halstead on Wednesdays from 12:04 AM to 5:15 AM
  • Thursday at 3:15 a.m., 1800 blocks in West Irving Park
  • Thursday at 3:48 a.m. 1900 blocks in West Byron
  • North Lincoln Block 3900 closes late Wednesday or early Thursday
  • 4300 blocks in North Lincoln on Thursdays from 1am to 8am
  • 4300 Blocks in North Lincoln on Thursdays from 1am to 6am
  • 4600 blocks in North Lincoln on Thursday at 5:27 a.m.

According to the alert, the suspects were two black men, each wearing a light-colored hoodie and black pants and carrying a light-colored backpack.
