CHICAGO — A group of men armed with rifles and pistols attacked a taxi driver carrying passengers in River North overnight.
The 49-year-old taxi driver was outside the Hyatt Place Chicago hotel (66 West Illinois) around 5 a.m. when a white SUV pulled up next to him, according to a Chicago police report.
Reportedly, the gunman displayed at least three guns, including a rifle, and smashed the driver’s side window of the taxi to rob him.
After hold-up, the four-man crew returned to their SUV, presumably a Nissan Rogue, and headed north on Dearborn Street.
A taxi driver and his passenger were robbed in Westtown on Saturday morning.
The driver told police that four men wearing ski masks stopped next to him at about 3 a.m. on Block 2700 of West Superior. According to a Chicago police report, the group flaunted guns and stole wallets and watches. The crew also robbed the taxi driver’s female passenger before driving the vehicle.
