PEORIA (25News Now) – A fire at a home left one cat dead earlier Tuesday in Peoria.

A battalion chief we spoke to on scene says the call came in just after noon for a home in the 6800 block of Parkwood in Peoria.

A neighbor reportedly saw smoke coming from the bottom of the house while mowing.

Battalion Chief Stephen Rada says responding firefighters reported fire showing from the lower level of a split foyer residential home and a report of pets possibly inside.

2 adults and two children were displaced but found housing arrangements.

The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional. The fire was contained to the room of origin but the home suffered smoke damage throughout.

Damage is estimated to be $100,000.

No one else was hurt.
