On the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, 6,277 people entered Hungary on Sunday, and 4,318 of those entering the Romanian-Hungarian border said they had come from Ukraine, the National Police Headquarters (ORFK) told MTI on Wednesday.
Of those admitted, police issued a temporary residence permit to 164 people, valid for 30 days. They should contact the office of the National Directorate General of Immigration responsible for their place of residence to obtain the final documents, they wrote.
268 people, including 59 children, fled the war in Ukraine to Budapest on Tuesday, the ORFK reported.
The Budapest Police Headquarters announced on police.hu on Wednesday that they are assisting refugees arriving by train from Ukraine with the Police on Standby and those participating in police patrol training. The Budapest Civil Guard Association also provides support in these tasks.
The police officers are in constant contact with the staff of the National Directorate General for Disaster Management, the National Directorate General for Aliens, the Hungarian State Railways Ltd., the Budapest Transport Center, the Municipal Police Directorate of the Capital City, the Government Office of the Capital City of Budapest and the aid organizations.
