Brighton park pedestrian death is second fatal hit-and-run in three days, police say


A 71-year-old man was found dead in the street on Wednesday morning, police said.

The Brighton Park fatality at 4600 South California Avenue is the second fatal hit-and-run of the week. Monica Eason, 42, died Monday after being hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing in West Garfield Park on her 900 block on South Plasky Road, officials said.

Eason was pronounced dead in the crash at 8:33 p.m., police said. Authorities explained that the vehicle that hit her was her tan SUV, and said her vehicle continued heading south. The drivers of both fatal hit-and-runs are not in police custody, police said.
