At least 2 dead, 16 hospitalized in deadly high-speed crash on Chicago’s South Side


Chicago police and firefighters remain at the scene of a deadly high-speed crash involving at least eight vehicles on the city’s south side.

Chicago police said the crash occurred near the intersection of South Cottage Grove Avenue and Wednesday night street.

At least eight vehicles were involved in the crash, and the high speed of the crash caused several to overturn and cause extensive damage.

At least two people have been killed and multiple injuries have been reported so far, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Authorities now say at least 16 people have been taken to local hospitals, four of them in critical to critical condition.

Firefighters were seen trying to rescue at least one person from the massive wreckage, according to NBC 5’s Sky 5 helicopter crew.
