In 1923, the Urbana Lincoln hotel, Urbana’s new $375,000 civic project ($6.7 million in today’s dollars), was open for business. In 1973, the Champaign-Urbana Committee on Community Standards on First Amendment Rights came one step closer to establishing a local standard for dealing with pornography as it scribbled out the tentative draft of the resolution it would send to the Champaign and Urbana city councils.
In 2008, University of Illinois student Logan Ponce, chosen the previous spring by former portrayers of Chief Illiniwek to be the 37th Chief Illiniwek, was to dance in a replica costume in the Assembly Hall the next month.
