Holy plow! The results are out.
Chicagoans chose their favorite names in the city’s first “name a snowplow” contest, the mayor’s office announced Friday.
In addition to Holly Plow, the other top vote earners were Mrs. O’Leary Plow, Da Plow, Salter Payton, Sears Plower, Sleet Home Chicago and Jean-Baptiste Point du Shovel.
“We couldn’t be happier with the level of resident engagement we’ve had in our first snowplow naming contest,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a statement. , with thousands of creative Chicago-related names submitted and thousands of ballot responses for the 50 finalists.”
The competition started in December. Entries will be accepted until January 6th, when department staff will select her 50 finalists. Residents said she had until January 31st to vote for six winners. In the end, the city chose seven winners because “they were nearly tied for sixth place,” city officials said.
The name of the winning snowplow will be placed on the seven snowplows operating in the city.
