All of these changes didn’t take place until around 4:30pm local time. The Hawks were running a completely different line in the morning’s skate. But it didn’t seem to matter.

Chasing Kane

The latter category has recently been scrutinized. That’s because he went into back-to-back games last weekend (against the Blues and Kings) with his 0 shots, just for the second time in his career.
“[We’ve been] chasing a lot of pucks [having] A lot of puck possessions,” Kane said Thursday. “When we have it, we can do a better job sticking with it.”
The only other instance was December 2010, which shouldn’t really be counted. He was injured 23 seconds after him in the first game, and the second game came three weeks after him.
He’s been saying he needs more possession since November, but he hasn’t solved the problem. It is reflected in his production. He is on pace to finish with 56 points in 77 games this season, down from his 92 points last year.
Given the composition of this Hawks team, it might not really work out. But he had no choice but to keep trying and played well on Thursday – he could easily have scored two or three points.
“This year has not been a great year production-wise. It’s certainly a shame,” he said. “You get used to playing with certain guys [in] 2 years, 3 years, 4 years and constant style. It’s sudden, but it’s different. It doesn’t get worse or better. It’s just different.
