Mayor Brandon Johnson kicked off his first city council meeting this morning by harshly criticizing Fox News’ recent coverage of the incoming administration’s progressive platform.

But as asylum seekers continue to arrive in Chicago, a public comment period begins before a vote is scheduled to designate a $51 million city budget surplus to fund immigration services. And the meeting quickly turned serious.
