A delivery truck driver was cited Sunday night after vehicles often crashed under a covered bridge in Long Grove, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office responded around 7:40 pm after receiving a report that the van was stuck. A tow truck was called to unload the car. Police said the road was closed for about an hour, but there was no structural damage to the bridge.

The driver was charged with disobeying traffic control equipment and driving a prohibited vehicle on the bridge. He told police he thought his van could clear the underside of the bridge.
Sunday’s incident marks the 45th time sheriffs have responded to a crash on the bridge since the bridge reopened in 2020, according to the sheriff’s office.
